Generally, pasta made of whole wheat is known to be a lot better for your health since it contains almost the entire grain of seeds. This type of pasta contains minerals, vitamins and fibers which cannot be found on pastas made from processed or refined flour. The primary reason why most individuals opt for processed pasta instead of pasta made of whole wheat is due to the slight difference in taste as well as in texture. But what you should know is that, whole-wheat pasta has lots to offer compared to your favorite processed or refined pasta.
Most people may have been accustomed to processed pasta due to its taste and texture, but based on the wheat glycemic index, pasta made of whole wheat contains higher proteins and is more filling which means you will not feel hungry immediately after meals. Whole-wheat pasta may also become lighter when cooked and is also tasty when served with flavorful and delicious sauces.
Sometimes, most people think that pasta is very fattening. But what you should know is that this statement is not true. Pasta is definitely not fattening since it consists of grains which are naturally low in fat. What makes pasta fattening is the sauce which you add up to it, as it adds more calories into your meal. If you are to base your pasta menu on the wheat glycemic index, then opting for whole-wheat pasta with low calorie sauce is not frightening at all.
Due to the advancement in technology, the whole-wheat pasta today has improved a lot and has become more palatable and with much better texture. Also, some whole-wheat pasta today is tastier when properly cooked and complimented with flavorful sauces.
Doctors and dieticians may, based on the wheat glycemic index, usually advice you to opt for pasta made of whole wheat as this is a lot better for your health. If you want to acquire more nutrients and lesser calories, then you should prevent or eliminate refined or processed pasta from your diet menu.
If you are to base your diet on the wheat glycemic index, then you do not have to sacrifice your craving for pasta since you could already write down various Italian dishes into your menu without ruining your diet plan. This is due to the fact wheat glycemic index value is beneficial, and so is the whole-wheat pasta.
